Payroll Specialist/Administrator

One of the North’s leading firms of chartered accountants and business advisors, offering an extensive range of corporate, personal and specialist tax services and employing c.1,000 staff, is keen to recruit new a Payroll Specialist or Administrator as part of its fast-growing Newcastle office.
You will be part of a team managing a portfolio of new and existing clients, with responsibility for the delivery and implementation of payroll services to a high standard, with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Your key responsibilities as Payroll Specialist/Administrator will include:
- Processing and importing payroll data including joiners/leavers, hours, overtime, statutory payments
- Manual calculations
- Processing payments
- Calculating retrospective payments
- Calculating the PAYE tax, NI and Apprenticeship Levy amounts payable
- Completing payroll reports
- Ensuring regulatory compliance i.e., RTI, Auto Enrolment and Apprentice Levy.
- Creating BACS files for the payment of employees
- Issuing payslips, P45s and P60s
- Set up and administration of pensions information
- Executing management reports and KPI reports on the payroll process
- Reviewing, identifying and implementing process and system improvements
- Proactively share your knowledge with colleagues to help them upskill
As Payroll Specialist/Administrator you’ll need:
- Strong Payroll experience gained in practice preferred – industry experience will be considered, ideally including exposure to larger or more complex organisations
- Good knowledge and understanding of payroll compliance and best practice, including AE, RTI, Apprenticeship Levy, Employment Allowance
- CIPP or alternative payroll qualification desirable but not essential
- Excellent IT Skills and highly competent with Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good workload management skills and ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to calmly handle a high volume of work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
