Our client is a highly profitable and ambitious service business that has grown from scratch to c.£400m sales and over 500 staff in approx. 15 years. Its finance department and people have grown and progressed with the company and the department is now c.30 people strong. The company is now on the next stage of its journey and we’re now looking to help further strengthen the finance team, by appointing a first-rate Cost Accountant to join a strong, established Management Accounting function. The newly created Cost Accountant role sits within the seven strong Management Accounting Team.
Reporting to the Head of Management Accounting, you will take a key role in leading a team of cost accountants responsible for analysing and controlling business costs.
Key responsibilities including:
- Lead a newly created team of cost accountants with the ability to shape the structure of the team
- Monitoring cost variances and delivering valuable insights
- Streamline cost management processes, feeding business decisions
- Preparing regular P&Ls, reports and analysis
- Identifying opportunities for improved financial performance
- Communicating and interpreting financial information to business managers
- Supporting colleagues in your team and the wider department
- Improving financial systems and process
- Providing critical input into the review and enablement of a move to a transfer pricing model
- Training and development of the management accounting team
- Identify why, and suggest changes to suppliers
- Pivotal to development of cost apportionment model
As Cost Accountant you'll offer:
- Strong, cost experience gained in an Assistant Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, Management Accountant, Cost Accountant or Finance Manager type role
- Qualified or part-qualified working towards professional accounting qualifications in CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in financial software and MS Excel
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Detailed and thorough – able to understand drivers behind the business
- A progressive, proactive, ambitious and flexible approach
